In Super Dice Battle, players roll their Combo Dice as fast as they can in an attempt to complete the combos on their Character Card. When a player completes a combo by committing matching results, they grab and roll the Super Die to determine damage and apply the results to an opposing player in hopes to KO their opponents.
This is Ephyrean Games second project and comes from a place of true love for video gaming. It is a part of the SUPER EPHYREAN SERIES, a new collection of games that will utilize a Speed Rolling dice mechanic for the AUTHENTIC video game adrenaline.
Booth 560
Southpaw
A fast puncher, Southpaw packs a wallop. She has the fastest combo in the game but at a cost of dealing - 10 percent with the combo. Partner that with her wonderful defense and STUN abilities, she doesn’t mind having the least Threshold.
Detective Jules Guthrie
The detective is here, this automaton is bringing their heat with a pulse pistol. He utilizes his artificial mind and metal to the battlefield and is capable of performing one of the most devastating attacks.
General Augustine Hale
Leading the charge is the General Hale. Taken from Aerodome’s ACE universe, Augustine Hale knows what it’s like to be in a fight and comes prepared with her shield taken from the plate of a tank. Augustine is also the only character with a consistent way to deal splash damage with the Slash icon.
Captain Bertha Burnwater
A crew would have a hard time mutining the monstrous Bertha Burnwater. Her lungs powered by Gasoline allows her to breathe fire. She is capable of serious damage to any and all who oppose her. Where she may be slow, she makes up for in pure damage and the highest threshold in the game. Utilize her Burn effects to deal additional damage. Any player will have a hard time taking down this “Beast from the Bellows” on their own.
Each fighter will get a set of 4 custom eight-sided dice.
These dice are used to complete your combos by performing a roll. In the game, players can decide to roll together or roll at their own speed.
The dice are designed to replicate a video game controller and have the following faces:
Each fighter has four unique combos that they are trying to complete. The top two combos are considered your OFFENSIVE combos. These are how you will typically deal damage to another fighter. Each fighter also has a SPECIAL combo which grants players a unique token that can be spent to complete a unique effect. Lastly, each fighter has a DEFENSIVE combo, these combos can be used to negate damage from opponent’s attacks.
Combos are considered complete when each button has been rolled within the white zone. Bonus effects can be triggered if players decide to go for the black zone on a combo. This is an excellent strategy to do more damage but at a potential cost of leaving your fighter open for more attacks. For Example: A Player rolling for Lightning Jab requires an A and any Directional result to complete the combo. If they do, they roll the Super Die and will deal STUN as well as -10% damage. If they roll for the BONUS, they also gain an additional STUN and deal +10% damage.
Combos will also have Effect icons that are applied when resolving the combo. These icons, and their meaning, can be found on a Reference card.
When resolving an OFFENSIVE combo, fighters roll the SUPER DIE! This twelve-sided die has two different Icons on it. A Hit result result and a Dot result. A Hit result will deal 10% Threshold to the defending player. Dot results are used for certain effects and abilities.
A game of Super Dice Battle can be played in one of two modes: Victory Points and Stock
Victory Points: In Victory points, when a fighter KO’s another fighter they may claim on of their Stock tokens. When one player has claimed 3 Stock tokens from their opponents, they are victorious!
Stock: In Stock, each player begins the game with a predetermined amount of Stock tokens (or Life tokens). When a player is KO’d they remove one of their Stock tokens and any damage or dice assigned to their Fighter. When a player has run out of Stock tokens, they are Eliminated and the last player standing is victorious!
